Allison Miller
Fulfillment Manager - CircLink
Aly joined the Subco team in January of 2010 as a Customer Care Specialist. After taking a significant interest in our special fulfillment projects, she quickly became the program’s Fulfillment and Customer Care Manager. Aly oversees the day-to-day operations of CircLink, making sure all order processing and invoicing is completed on a daily basis. In addition, she mentors two Customer Care specialists to ensure top quality customer service.
Aly has a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies from California State University, Fresno and Master’s in Cross-Cultural Education from National University. Implementing a strong discipline for learning has helped her as well as her team perform at high levels during peak times.
Andrea Rojas
Marketing Coordinator
Andrea started her career as a teacher after receiving her Single Subject Teaching Credential in English from Fresno State University in 2008.
In 2010, Andrea joined the Subco team and was quickly wearing many hats for the company. Although her official title is Marketing Coordinator, she has had her hand in B2B Partnership Development, Social Media, Marketing, New Business Development, Fundraising, Ad and Website Design, Event Planning and Video Production.
With the ever-changing publishing industry, Andrea is always at the ready to take on any new creative role and help Subco for future growth.
Brian Knowles
SVP Publisher Relations
Brian started his journey through the magazine industry fresh out of college in 1999. He went to work for a magazine subscription agency by the name of NewSub Service, later to become Synapse Group. There he learned the ins and outs of magazine marketing and circulation. After 5 years, he transitioned to the publisher side at Time4Media. Since then, he’s also held positions in the circulation departments at Meredith and Mansueto Ventures.
Brian currently oversees publisher relations for Subco, as well as aspects of new business ventures. His three years with the company have flown by, and he looks forward to seeing Subco grow to the absolute leader in the publishing industry.
Cristina Segura
Account Manager/New Business Development
Cristina settled in Fresno three years ago after growing up on the cool Central Coast. She began her career working as a Fraud Analyst for HSBC but quickly realized that the banking industry was not for her. Cristina came upon an opportunity to work in a new division with Subco in January of 2010 – with her knowledge of business and skills in quality control; she helped develop an oversight department for audits and compliance with Subco.
Always up for a challenge, Cristina has proven to be a true team player by assuming the role of Account Manager – New Business Development assisting with partner, loyalty & sponsored sales programs.
Deborah Spaulding
VP New Business Development
As VP of New Business Development, Deborah brings more than 5 years of experience in public relations and marketing to Subco. Deborah’s interest in media began while earning her degree in Mass Communications and Journalism from California State University, Fresno.
Deborah brought her expertise in networking, media relations and relationship building to help grow our partner network with creative and high-performance campaigns.
Prior to joining Subco, Deborah worked as Public Information Officer in the city and local school district sector, launching several specialized marketing programs. Deborah approaches every project with a passion for quality and high expectations, and she has been a key player in promoting the Subco brand.
Jena Warner
Fulfillment Manager
Jena has always been a fan of magazines – from a very young age; she was an aspiring fashionista and as a result an avid magazine reader. Jena studied Fashion Design and Merchandising and learned that creativity and strategy are inherently linked.
Prior to joining Subco, Jena worked in operations at a general contracting firm. The fast-paced environment and demand for quick resolution helped her perfect the skills necessary to excel in her current position.
Jena came on board with Subco in 2010; her responsibilities include data analysis, agent relations, and system analysis. She follows the production trends, reports monthly on production statistics and works closely with the Marketing and Publisher Relations team to ensure that Subco stays up to date with processes and deadlines.
Jonathan Eropkin
Chief Technology Officer
Jonathan brings more than 10 years of experience in information technology and computer systems to Subco. Jon’s extensive background in software development, database design and administration is key in managing our CircLink, D2C and SubDirect brands.
Prior to joining Subco, Jon was the senior programmer and software developer at EFG Software and owner of Category One Software where he led several highly successful projects.
Jonathan has been working with computers and technology since the early 1980s. He obtained an undergraduate degree in mathematics from CSU Fresno, and began his career in professional programming in 1997.
His approach to the use of technology has always been from a practical point of view, to comfortably use technology in everyday tasks without being governed or constrained by it. “There is always a way to do something.”
When Jonathan isn’t writing code, drawing flowcharts, scribbling on the white board or designing databases, he races his bicycle for the SAFEWAY/GA-PRC Group/Bicycles Plus Cycling Team. As a highly ranked amateur, he races at the professional level throughout California and across the United States.
Kelly Vucovich
Principal and Co-Founder
Kelly’s passion for media began in 1975 when she started her career as a part-time clerk at a small magazine subscription agency in Fresno, California. At the age of 23, she took a leap of faith and helped launched Elbon Enterprises, spending the next 20 years working with a strong team of sales professionals and developing targeted campaigns for some of the top publishers in the industry.
In 2004, Kelly championed the acquisition of Subco and, as CEO and President; she provided vertical growth opportunities for Elbon. Through Vucovich's vision, sales rose from 44,000 thousand subscriptions annually in 2004 to over 4.5 million in 2008.
Five years later Vucovich became a managing partner in SubDirect, LLC, and acquired SubCircPlus and (Hearst) Budget Readers Service, building upon her dream to bring the right people together to challenge themselves and their industry to continually grow, achieve and evolve. Today, Subco produces over 6 million subscriptions annually through a variety of sources and mediums.
Kelly’s expertise lies in idea generation, creative marketing solutions and strategic planning.
Kristina Rivera
Fulfillment Manager
Kristina joined the Subco team in March of 2010 as a Data Management Specialist within the Fulfillment Department division. During the first year at Subco, Inc., she transitioned the role to Fulfillment Manager.
Currently, Kristina oversees the operational fulfillment process and works in collaboration with Subco's programming team to provide analytical system support. She plays a vital role in order management and developing an innovative system process in a multi-user environment.
Kristina has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis focus on Entrepreneurship from California State University, Fresno. Integrating her passion for business and entrepreneurial skills has encouraged Kristina to ignite her forward-thinking abilities in the magazine fulfillment industry where the pace of innovation is great.
Megs Didario
Publisher Relations
Megs's interest in the publishing industry was sparked while a Communications major at Cornell University. An editorial internship at the Cornell Alumni Magazine and a marketing internship at the New York Times paved the way to a full-time position in 2007 at the Synapse Group, a Time Inc-owned marketing firm. As an associate in the Publisher Relations division, Megs helped implement new marketing tests and generate new subscriptions for numerous magazines.
In 2009, she transitioned over to the consumer marketing division at Time Inc, through which she helped manage the agency business for all of the company's 22+ magazines.
In February 2011, Megs joined the Publisher Relations group at Subco, where she currently works with numerous publishing clients on developing new sources of business and growing readership. Recently, Megs has added New Business Development responsibilities to her plate, and she has helped launch marketing promotions with several key partners. Megs is thrilled to now be a part of the Subco team, and enjoys early morning runs with her coworkers while travelling for business.
Melanie Russell
VP Operations
Melanie started her career early during school working part-time in telemarketing. After graduating, she grew with the company by building sales through creative inbound and outbound media campaigns. Melanie developed several programs that enhanced the subscriber experience and broke new ground in magazine sales.
In 2007, Melanie took a leadership role at Subco and has never looked back. Her business philosophy has always been that success is achieved through innovation, vision and teamwork.
Mike Mezzanotte
VP Marketing
Mike’s career adventures started almost 20 years ago when he began working for a national TV advertising agency as a college recruit. From there he ran his own marketing consulting firm building start-up companies, supporting marketing campaigns and new product development for his clients. He later spent 10 years with Time Warner’s magazine division (the Synapse Group) where he worked in the Sales and Account management group supporting all marketing channels. Before joining Subco, he served as the Vice President for Spectra Products, a marketing and advertising agency, where he ran the operations and business development teams.
Russell J. Rahm
Principal and Co-Founder
Russell holds the title of Principal and Co-Founder of SubDirect, his role as a dedicated and collaborative partner has expanded the reach and capacities of Subco. Russell has owned and operated successful sales organizations his entire adult life and oversees design and strategic implementation of the organization’s selling relationships and growth initiatives. He is particularly focused on advancing best-in-class productivity, service and compliance through the development of support resources and reporting systems.
Through his direction, Subco has formulated new and innovative customer acquisition plans. He credits his hands-on experience as both a sales architect and business leader for helping him balance long-term infrastructure development with short-term project performance. He has achieved consistency in both strong and weak business cycles, and is known for building strong and enduring partnerships with a broad spectrum of business industry stakeholders.
Shirley Viel
Direct of Publisher Relations
Shirley is a Consumer Marketing Executive with 20 years’ experience in the magazine publishing industry. She was Consumer Marketing Director for many leading magazines, including Hallmark Magazine, Essence Magazine and several Ziff Davis magazines, including their flagship title PC Magazine. Shirley was charged with leading all consumer marketing efforts and played a major role in identifying and implementing the strategic partnerships to establish new sources of subscriptions.
At Essence Communications, Inc., Shirley oversaw all aspects of strategic planning and developing subscription and single copy circulation strategies, including list rental sales. Under her leadership, Essence Magazine received several awards and achievements including two silver Circ Management awards, #7 ranking in Advertising Age’s 2003 “A” List and #13 in Capell’s top 20 newsstand sales-gainers from 1994-2004.
At Ziff Davis Media, Shirley was responsible for the overall subscription strategy of five magazines and for Agency Marketing of all nine paid magazines. Shirley held several direct marketing positions during her eleven-year tenure at Ziff Davis Media.
Shirley resides in Port Washington, New York with her husband and three children. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Economics from The Stern School of Business, New York University.
Victor Urbieta
Programmer
Victor Urbieta developed an interest in Math and Science at an early age. He developed his interest in computing and programming while attending California State University, Fresno (CSUF) and obtained his Bachelor in Science in Computer Engineering with honors in 2009. While at CSUF, he was involved in several engineering projects including a joint Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) project between Edwards Air Force and CSUF where, after graduating, he was hired by the two parties to complete the project. Even though his career focus was in embedded system design, he developed and expanded his programming skills while involved in the UAV project.
At the end of 2010, he started at Subco as a Junior Programmer where he helped optimize various data processes. Among development, he is also involved in redesigning existing projects at Subco to improve web user experience and efficiency.
In 2011, he was promoted from junior programmer to Programmer at Subco. His patience, dedication and work have earned him the solid trust of the Subco team.
